I posted this as a support issue [984835] on the Jan 3 and was told to post it as a bug [34868] which I did and frankly as an 8 year user of this product I'm concerned.
Firstly because it's been several days and I'm still no closer to a resolution and second because as much as I've searched, there appears to be no other identical issue or resolution to this.
Here's the problem:
We have a special forum for users wanting to write articles. An administrator reads the threads and decides which ones to promote to articles and in which sections to put them. So far so good.
Once promoted, the article appears on the front page of the website correctly showing the name of the original thread starter as the author. Also correct.
At the same time, a new thread gets created in vBCms Comments as the "comments" thread for this article. The way it should work as I understand it is the person who originally promoted the thread to an article should be attributed as the thread starter but on our board it does not [consistently] work like that. Of the 10 or so articles we have which were promoted from threads we have:
Five of them show correctly, the person (administrator) as the person who created the thread in vBCms Comments.
One shows incorrectly, the user "Unregistered" as the person who created the thread in vBCms Comments.
The other four show incorrectly, arbitrary [I have not been able to determine a pattern] board members as as the persons who created the thread in vBCms Comments.
Has anyone else seen this or anything similar and if so, is there a fix for this?
