Most every website hack starts with the perpetrator researching the name and version of the code that's running the site. I understand that security by obscurity does not work as a sole security strategy but I don't want to make it easy for the bad guy either.
If you feed "Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.2" to Google, more than 2 mil results show up. Pretty nice show of potential victims for someone that has a hack for this exact version (not to claim that there are any as yet).
So, can I do either of the following:
Remove the plug alltogether
Alter it to remove the version number
Turn it into a (non-searcheable) graphic
JavaScript it into a bot-unfriendly code
Is there a free or paid solution to this issue?
Thanks!
