Security by Obscurity - can I remove "Powered by ..."? This is my last question for today: Most every website hack starts with the perpetrator researching the name and version of the code that's running the site. I understand that security by obscurity does not work as a sole security strategy but I don't want to make it easy for the bad guy either. If you feed "Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.2" to Google, more than 2 mil results show up. Pretty nice show of potential victims for someone that has a hack for this exact version (not to claim that there are any as yet). So, can I do either of the following:
