Al-Wefaq SG:All the forms planned for the union are merely of "wasting the independence"

The Secretary General considered that what had been made known by some of the news agencies about the bi-union between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain is just "wasting the independence of Bahrain".

Celebrating the "international Nurses Day" masses stood in solidarity with medicsat Freedom Square in Mugsha'a, Salman –Al-Wefaq SG- clarified that the "independence of Bahrain was made by the people of Bahrain after a popular referendum which was monitored by the United Nations to resolve the dispute between Bahrain and Iran over the independence and sovereignty of the Island, or its dependence and its subordination to Iran".

He also insisted that " the people of Bahrain voted for the independence of Bahrain, however, the people of Bahrain-exclusively- not Khalifa's gained the independence and it is only the people of Bahrain who has the right to talk about independence, and no one has the right – even Al-Khalifas- to speak on behalf of the Bahraini people about any kind of confederation with any country".

Salman also continued " your decision is illegitimate and all your claims by journalists about a real parliament that represents the whole people of Bahrain are just lies and the world does not believe you anymore, your decision has no legitimate bases"

He also stated that " we are with all real honest intentions toward any union , if there were real intentions , talks and discussion would have been held to share the decision with their own people, after that, referendum should be undertaken to reflect a real modern democratic of decision making, by which the Kuwaiti people will speak out for their rights , and so are the dear Saudis , the Omanis and Qataris as well, through this procedure the true will of the people's will tell clearly whether they want such union or not".

Salman continued , "when the European countries decided to move to a Union, the went through discussions and everybody voted for or against the union, this is how governments that respect their people deal with such matters. While here, the union is forcefully imposed which shows how the governments, here, are just looking down to their peoples".

He mentioned the use of the smart card issues which facilitates the movement of the citizens easily from country to another " this issue took 20 years to practically be in use" as working on a customs treaty took ten years, it has been ten years since they discussed the one currency treaty.

He wondered: " how can you go on with a union that is ten times greater than those headlines within just six months" " if you are really honest, this is not the way to declare a union, I advice you not do it the way you are going to do it on Monday, Al-Qadafi declared so many unions, do you want your union to be that way?!"

Salman continued: "why are Qatar and its people, Kuwait, UAE and Oman rejecting such union? We are rejecting this union for the same reasons the Omanis, Qataris, Kuwaitis and Emiratis are rejecting it".

Regarding the political situation in Bahrain, Salman said that "the authority’s discriminational employment policy was one of the main motives of the outbreak of the revolution, and therefore if the authority is to go on with this policy, that only means it will inflame the revolution even more".

Salman criticized authority’s arrest of opposition leaders and figures describing it as “stupidity”, he said that these arrests have only become a source of persistence to the people’s cause. “ The life sentences passed down to opposition figures determine how long the revolution will go on, as long as they are behind bars and as long as the demands of the people are not met”, he stated.

“When human rights activist, Nabeel Rajab gets arrested, his followers and the revolutionary youth will not stay home, instead, the people will become more steadfast and certain to their cause,” he said.

Salman also reminded that the absence of jailed opposition figures who call for a peaceful movement and discipline will drive the country to a wider spiral of violence that will destroy everything, and the authority is held fully responsible for this ridiculous and reckless policy. He demanded the immediate release of Nabeel Rajab, AbdulHadi AlKhawaja and the rest os the opposition figures along with all prisoners of conscience.
