"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter" George Washington

I don't know what the future may hold for Bahrain, but I know one simple thing, that the people should hold the future.

Some assumed that our youth does not know enough to be prudent, They proved the world wrong and they attempted the impossible on the 14th of February 2011, and they did achieve it.

Failure generation after generation since the beginning of the 19 hundreds. Till the day that our generation had achieved more than all the previous attempts in less than 2 days to gather and unite Bahrain in expressing their demand of freedom and self determination and making the decision on running their own country.

What people got in return for demanding their legitimate rights was beyond what any neutral honest person would expect, the response was brutal and unreasonable.

To date, 74 martyrs lost their life, people were dismissed from their jobs, people got jailed, families humiliated in the streets and attacked inside their homes, looting shops and property of those who simply supported these demands, protesters were accused of treason on national state stations, regime militias terrorizing the country and many more. All in response to the freedom of speech and decision that the people of Bahrain stood to confront and criticize the regime.

The people swallowed their pride and kept quiet year after year of repression and lack of justice and equity of treatment and this movement broke the chains of fear and made the people stand and say Not anymore. The regime claims to respect and honor freedom of speech and human rights to the international media and on the other hand they tortured and killed Abdulkarem Fakhrawi, tortured, jailed and dismissed more than XX reporter and journalist for expressing their support for the demands, deny observers entry upon their arrival to Bahrain, prevented humanitarians from investigating the cases and situation. Journalists who entered with tourist visas kept being followed and many got calls stating that their visas expired once they were identified as reporters and had to leave and people they talk to would go missing.

A year since the 14th of February with more than 70 martyred, Men and women. Old and young. and still the ministry of Interior keeps falsifying news and death causes to the public and to the world. Who respects human rights and jail the top doctors and torture them just to release them later and prevents them from practicing their jobs? leaves one of the most well known human rights activist in jail fighting for his life on his 1 month hunger strike. National TV campaigning that when they circle people’s faces and then identified, thrown in jail the next day. Bloggers and people on Facebook and Twitter were being targeted. University students were expelled and deprived from their education. Athletes, lawyers, ministry and private companies employees were being sacked one after another.

As a ruler you cannot limit freedom and justice to one sector of the community and favour them over the other and then wish for all to innovate and to build a new independent responsible generation. The attempt to restrict a generation to the likening of the ruler never succeeded and will not succeed this time. The lulu moment that was removed by the government who believed in freedom of speech with the help of the Saudi army as they claim, gave a new opportunity and way of freedom of speech to the people.

The lulu was an area that was shaping the generations and educating them, as it is one of the most important responsibilities, to grooming and raise those who will live and run the future of this country. It was hard and bitter for the rulers to see taking place in the country that once they thought they held as a property of their own running it corruption and the mentality of bequests and grants, freedom of speech is one of the most basic political right to communicate freely and bring up a system to its standards that they claim.

Jailing and dismissing those who practiced this right is a clear violation of this right, to this day we have people with life sentence for expressing their thoughts and practicing freedom of speech in pinpointing the discrimination and corruption they live in on a daily bases and the injustice practiced on the people. But this is not considered freedom of speech when its pinpointing the wrongs of the untouchable royal family.

These wrongs are not only related to the low living standards of housing, education, job opportunities and corruption, but it extended to playing with people’s lives! Imprisoning, and torturing citizens if they spoke against the wishes of the prime minister, the king or any of their family members. The tribal rule of the middle ages is still implemented not freedom of speech in Bahrain.

The stories of tyranny in Bahrain are endless. Something the world may not focus on while talking about Bahrain, that the number of neutralized Bahrainis is almost equivalent to the number of the original Bahrainis who have been living on this land before his family “Al-Khalifa” came to Bahrain.

The demands of the revolutions were simple. The main demand was an elected government with an elected prime minister. The current prime minister has been hogging this position for more than forty miserable years. The other demands were transparency in controlling the wealths of this country from oil and other resources and to put an end to corruption, investigate the case of the neutralized, freedom of speech and the release of all political prisoners, equal opportunities and a fair judging system that does not rule in favor of the ruling family. A constitutional monarchy isn’t a demand worth killing a nation for.

All what was stated above isn't known to the common individual sadly, or some choose to look the other side and ignore what is happening in my country, but we simply want to bring together the various voices of the Bahraini movement abroad and to highlight the challenges of Bahrainis to officials and civil societies outside of Bahrain.

I want the king, the prime minister, every Bahraini minister and torturer to be put on public trial for their crimes. I want the the families of the martyrs and those who have been tortured to be compensated accordingly, although there isn’t a compensation enough to a father who lost his son, or a daughter who lost her mother. I want the lands of Bahrain to be for Bahrainis and not exclusive to the royal family. I want my rights as "rights" and not as a royal gift. I am not a slave and justice is all I want right now before we build a Bahrain free of dictatorships mentality. While it may seem normal from the outside in Bahrain, where people go to their jobs to make a living, I cannot live normally knowing that in our prisons a father is being tortured and raped because he supported the revolution and chose to speak out his mind and show the world the injustice he is living in while the real criminals and torturers are loose and comfortably sipping tea protected by an evil family that will silence any apposing voice.

Finally, we will aim to raise awareness of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Bahrain through advocating officials in various countries and to impartially represent the various voices of the Bahraini opposition and promote the self-determination of Bahraini people, giving them a sense of power and helping to achieve the legitimate government we deserve and for the generations to come.
