Mr. Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One commercial rights owner, RE: Your Decision to Back Bahrain GP To Go Ahead Despite Human Rights Violations We have been saddened by your recent statement, in which you have reaffirmed your decision to keep the Bahrain schedule unchanged, and disregarding the obvious political unrest and the severe human rights violations. And you have gone even further when you wrongfully referred to our year-long struggle for our basic rights as ‘a lot of kids having a go at the police’. Such a statement is utterly irresponsible and we challenge the legitimacy of your source of information. Mr. Ecclestone, we understand your eagerness to hold the event in Bahrain and the financial impact that would result in a last-minute reschedule. However, you should be aware that by insisting on your decision, you are going against the will of an entire nation that is struggling for democracy and universal human rights. Unfortunately, you have so far proven that you care only about filling your pockets with money. Therefore, the Youth of Change Movement would like to clarify the following point to you: those whom you have called “kids” are the revolutionaries at the front line struggling against mercenaries hired by your friends (the Al-Khalifa regime) from Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen and other countries. If you have failed to understand their strong will and determination while setting comfortably on your luxurious sofa, we guarantee that you will witness it with your own eyes if you insist on siding with the brutal regime. You shall be the only one to be held responsible and accountable for the teams, the race cars, the races themselves and anything related to the event if you opt to ignore the massive human rights violations against our people.
