Witnesses said on Sunday that regime forces fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the protesters in Dair, located on the northern coast of the Muharraq Island. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the Manama regime and demanded the release of political prisoners. Saudi-backed regime forces continue their violent crackdown on the demonstrations across the country. The main Bahraini opposition group, al-Wefaq, has called on the protesters to press ahead with their demands through public demonstrations. Bahraini protesters hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the death of scores of people during the popular uprising in the country that began in February 2011.
