I'm running 3.8.5 on a LAMP server, and want to disable the [IMG] BBcode for new users, without disabling it for everyone. I've installed Advanced_BBcode . . . etc, but it enables control of everything EXCEPT the IMG code.
The IMG code is problematic not only for obvious reasons (see below if they aren't obvious to you) but also because it allows users to bypass no URL BBcode restrictions. I'm not sure if this is well known or not, but using the IMG BBCode on a url creates a live link EVEN when live links are turned off. This works for a hosted picture, but also for all other website URLs.

Reasons to kill IMG selectively:
Forum has 15 - 20% modem users, and new users tend to post UN-modem-friendly pictures. Subscribers know -- or should know -- the rules.
We have moderated registration, but STILL have some spammers and hackers who make it to the "New User" stage. We want them to be able to do nothing except post PLAIN text -- no links, no attachments, no images, etc.
Lack of images does not keep new users from the basic information and support function of the forum but it does create an incentive to upgrade to paid subscriptions. (Paid subscriptions also weeds out all (I hope!) hackers).
