CMS News article content type

Many vbulletin sites host news articles. I do not mean official site news, but news reports. Such news reports are often copied from news sources (like news.bbc.co.uk or news.google.com) or written by the member base.

In contrast to official site news, there is often a large number of users and user groups that is allowed to post such news. Most sites use vbadvanced or the commercial vbherald for this.

There should be one main news page, comparable to news pages on http://news.bbc.co.uk

While a large group of members posts news articles, there should be a select group of members/moderators/editors that decides which article is placed where on the main news page and in which news category. This group should somehow be confronted with the number of news articles they need to review.

Since many news articles come from other sites, it is needed that articles have a field to note the source of an articles and references for the articles.

Since the functionality asked for is very close to the functionality that already exists, it should be little effort to add this.

While the above describes basic news article content type functionality, the following suggestions would be very nice to add in a later stage:
