Forum Inserting Banner ads and links in a thread . . .

I'm trying to find the best way to do this. Using vB4.0.2, I am looking for a way to put a banner ad into a thread. Here for example is the code:

http://YOUR-ID.scarycash.hop.clickbank.net">

This code will ad the banner and my clickbank ID is directed when someone clicks on it. I seem to think that enabling html in a thread is a no no, but isn't that what I need and can I do that? I know I could put this code into a template and have it show up on the site in other than a thread, but I might have a few of these and having it show up in a thread is prefered. I also know I could feature the item on the home page, but I still haven't mastered Front Page articles yet, but I will, thanks
