Hi Guys, Currently running on 2 machines: Web = Dual XEON 5130 DB = Dual XEON 5535 Both with 4gb. They can no longer handle the traffic, so I'm looking to upgrade. Just wondering if it's still worth to go with 2 seperate machines, or to merge them into 2 VM's under W2k8 Hyper-V. From what I understand, it's always Disk I/O which takes the biggest hit on these things, but if I'm using 6xSAS drives in RAID10 - would this be ok? The processors and RAM would be beefed up considerably (say 16 cores, 24gb RAM). Currently using about 130gb a month - though disk usage on the DB server is very low (I guess a lot is cached?) Many thanks! __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
