TIP: Boost registration

This is my first forum but not first site. I read on public vs private. Tested both. Public was really slow if any.
Private was a little better.

But then using some of my affiliate marketing techniques I came across a way to boost registration by a very high % and heres how I did it. *my forum has only been up two weeks but it is surpassing the registartion rate i expected.

Ok so i made the forum completly private. made a small photoshop image "click here to gain full access" put it in a notice w/ registartion link. This was how i first set it up to be private.

So that wasnt working good enough, so I made another notice under that. And in the notice, I put up a few things that are being talked about inside my forum enticing the guest to want to sign up. I have noticed that this has boosted my registartion within hours. Before the call to action notice guests would just leave.

After the call to action they register because now they know a little about whats going on and are intrested. You have to figure you have about 90 seconds to convice the guest to on why to sign up.

http://www.sitalks.com take a look. Nothing special just a reason on why they should join. The bland generic. "you must register inorder to view the forum" is a big turn off. Getting them to sign up is the hard part you can always send them an email every now and then to try to get them back.
