Secondary Usergroup/private board

Hi

I've tried searching for an answer to this, but have been coming up blank so far!

I have set up a private forum on my board, that I only want some of my users to be able to see and post on.

Assumed the correct thing to do would be set up a custom usergroup, and in each users CP make them a secondary user of the new usergroup. That's all fine, but anytime they post their post has to be moderated, though I've set every permission I can see to allow for no moderation of posts.

I read on another post here to go into the user group settings and "Allow Users to have Member Groups", which is set to yes, and makes no difference.

If I make the private forum the default group for these users, then they can post there fine, but posts elsewhere on the board are moderated.

I'm baffled, help! __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__
