Forum User cannot log in to forum

I got an email from a user who said that they could not login. I reset their password to password and have they try it. They got the same message. I then changed their usergroup, rebuilt and optimized all tables, reset the counters, changed his password to 123456 and he said it still did not work..

I then tried to login withe their username and 123456 and I still get a
"wrong password" error.

It there somewhere else I can check on this? Very weird.
