In an attempt to stop spammers from signing on and posting spam in their signatures and/or blog posts, I decided to create a new User Group called New Registered Users using the same settings as the Registered Users. I then used the Prune / Move feature to move all the members that are currently in the Registered Users Usergroup to the New Registered Users User Group. I verified that all users have been moved to this User Group, along with verifying that all the settings remained the same (viewing/posting/editing/etc.). I then changed the original Registered Users User Group name to Restricted Registered Users and edited all the settings to not allow them to post anything except for a post in the forum itself. If they make one post then they are promoted to New Registered User (got the idea from this thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?314640).
However, now none of my members except for admins are able to view the forums. How is this so? I checked the forum permissions of the New Registered Users User Group and they are all set to view the forums, post, etc. Is there some other setting that I'm missing that I need to change?
