I would like to see vBulletin use sprites. But I would also like it to have some sort of sprite generator built in, for ease of customizing styles. Here is my idea for how it could work: In the admincp you will have a page where you can see a list of containers that I will call "images". Each "image" will act as a container for the sprites. There will be the default images from vBulletin developers but also allow members to add their own. When editing an "image" you will be able to specify settings like the title (obviously), spacing of images, alignment (horizontal, vertical), etc. You can then manage your sprites for that image. Upload, remove, etc. The image will then be accessed through a URL like sprite.php?spriteid=my_image_id Each sprite will have a stylevar that references it's position in the image. In the CSS templates we will be able to use the sprites like so: Code: .icon { background: transparent URL('{vb:stylevar sprites.my_image_id.src}') no-repeat left top; width: 16px; height: 16px; } .icon.specific { background-position: {vb:stylevar sprites.my_image_id.my_sprite_id.position}; } (I'm not sure if that syntax is correct). I hope to see something like this in vBulletin 4.1, it would be a very powerful feature. __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
