Hello, and yes indeed this is my first post so please be patient while I find my feet.
I co-own a forum using vB 3.6 and we have started a project to develop a very different new website and forum which we think is best based on v4.x. The sheer amount of work involved (from what we can see, a lot) does mean that we would want to install the new version in parallel with the current forum, using some vanilla data for testing and expanding across the new ideas we have in mind as they come on stream in a testing environment during the next few months.
Only one problem - I'm struggling to see what information there is on the subject of creating a sandbox environment and developing v4 while the existing version is still running. I'm obviously also assuming that this is allowed; I'm certain at some point it flashed in front of my eyes that this was possible, but my normally legendary searching talents have completely deserted me.
So - can anyone point me where I should go round here and mug up on how to do this? All pointers muchas appreciated.
