I've been a vBulletin guy since 2.0, and I've got a few general questions about the new forum, CMS, spam, etc.
1. Does vB 4 have better methods of reducing spam? I've employed many different tried and true suggestions and most of them work fairly well, although spammers do sometimes still break in and post away. I'm hoping this is the case.
2. On my website I've built a simple custom CMS that grabs user information from the vB user table in the vB database. There are a few hundred articles that have been composed over the past 10 years or so that I don't wanna lose, obviously. With those articles there are comments, guest and registered. Does vB provide a system where I can import this data? I know there are import systems in place for other forum software but not for custom stuff. Would I have to figure out how to import this stuff myself?
3. If I upgrade just the forums to 4.0, can I integrate the CMS later on with ease? $250 is a steep price for me right now.
4. How significant are the database changes to vBulletin? I've got some custom scripts reading from the vB database.
5. Can anyone share their migration experience here that have been in a similar situation as I am now? If you're out there, please share!
