Using a few of the very well written posts here I have a script that shuts down the entire site and backs up the database very well. I am having a bit of difficulty getting the filesystem however. My intent was to use something like this: Code: DATE=`date +%Y-%m-%d` cd /home/username/ tar -cvzf Backup-$DATE.tgz * Which does in fact backup the file system from the root on my shared server account down, with a few expected errors. The problem is the file and directory rights. Any directory or file given rights of 777 restore with rights of 755. All other combination of rights appear to restore correctly. There are some folders/files - especially above the web doc root - that have and need rights of 777. I am sure I could just add chmod commands to the script, but would prefer to avoid that as upgrades and add on products would mean I need to update the script more than I would like. To restore I am simply using: Code: tar -xvzf filename.tgz The restore is obviously not scripted. What am I missing? __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
