Hi, I'm new to vB. And have just bought a vB license. Based on the experiences we have had using vB 3.x on an external website, we decided to run an internal (private) vB as a management and communication tool with out staff and clients. Yesterday I got vB installed and running on IIS 6.0. Hurray. Major problem: the style/formatting of vB 4 is totally out of whack. TBH it is unusable. Like MANY if not MOST business/enterprises, we are using IE6. Yes, I know it is old, and yes, I know that 80% of internet users dont use IE6 anymore, BUT, in the corporate world (and this is where the stats and installation policies are quite different from home users) 70% of businesses are still on IE6. And that includes us as well as many of our clients. Shhh. Some of our clients are on XP/NT4.0 too. Say not more. vB 3.x worked fine. vB 4.0 is terrible. Is this due solely to the design template, or is it due to underlying structure Web 2.0? Do we persevere with 4.0 and replace with a IE6 compatible style template, or do I need to DOWNGRADE to 3.x and start again? Obviously, I'd prefer to stay with 4.0 and add a compatible style, than downgrade to 3.x. However, IE6 compatibility is a MUST. I cannot change the installations of our corporate clients that will use our site. Advice please. Thanks. __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
