Single User Login Across Multiple Sites

Since we have a new forum* and are using the star rating to focus on truly desired features now* and people seem to be actually doing it* I'm going to re-post something I mentioned (and others have) a while back.

The first link below is a thread I started. Now* I am not locked into exactly what I posted there* and CMS etc complicate things even further* but some form of uniform user back end with the ability to add new sites and forums at will would be best.

Bottom line - User accounts register you for all sites/forums in your own network* you can jump domains and sites and continue to be logged in seamlessly. New DB structure* separate DB* LDAP* whatever. Core* easily done* real time functionality* please.
