I have used vBulletin since long ago when I switched from UBB and 2.x was the big release. I remember at that time thinking "WOW there are a ton of options on this software!"
My main site has been offline for a few months and I have not done web server work professionally in years. I just did a clean* from scratch* install of the vB 4 full suite and spent the last two days just going through settings and options in the ACP. Like many* many* many other users I feel screwed that I was given no credit for the Blog and Projects licenses I paid for and owned and that I was forced to pay to upgrade my owned license that the old TOC said I would never have to do and that there are still apparently like 1*000 bugs in the software. Even so* and even though JelSoft has made some poor customer service relate decisions as of late* one thing keeps coming to mind:
Step back and look at this software package as a whole. There are more options and settings in here than $100*000 firewall systems I build. This thing is huge. It really puts the enormous efforts of the dev team in a different light. Despite some bad decisions* I have to say* I am impressed that this package exists with as few bugs and as many features as it has. So for that effort - especially when so many others have long since given up - I would like to take a minute to thank the Dev Team.
OK...never ending bitching may now resume....
