Dear Developers*

I believe it would be advantageous to write an API so that sources external to the installation may interact with it.

I looked at the vb3.8.x code and found there are already some methods to interact using XML but I did not find a full scale API. I don't believe an API is listed as a feature for vb4.

Specifically methods for user authentication* permissions* profile changes* viewing private messages* latest threads* forums* posts and many of the new community features.

I believe a full fledged API would help extend your brand to other locations across the internet by getting more people connected. An API would open the door for more exposure as users would be able to use widgets and other embeddable items for their websites or social networks displaying information about them. I would anticipate desktop applications and also more robust mobile applications built around vbulletin.

There are a few hacks on vbulletin.org that are API's but they do not have the scope that I am promoting nor do they have the reliability or blessing of being a part of the vbulletin package.
