I have a small forum with around 57 members 10 or so active, with my previous host, I was constantly losing connection to my db, especially over night. I would have to call them and have them to reboot the server to re-establish connection. This was happening evey week. To be fair, I still have some traditional websites with them created with FrontPage. For webhosting they are good, but not for VB hosting. My previous host was FPWeb.
After some research, I decided to go with Real Web Host. Joey with RWH was able to transfer my db through FPwebs Plesk Control Panel and handled the complete transfer of my VB site for free. After a few tweaks here and there my site has been up now 24/7, it seems to load faster and the transition was seamless for the most part to my members. I have been with RWH for a little over a month now but I feel they will be a solid host for a long time.
I am not affiliated with RWH in any way, but I know how frustrating VB hosting can be. So, I am sharing my experience. FWIW, I am on RWH Network plan, monthly bandwith 20GB, Storage Space 600GB, $144 per year.
