Press TV has conducted an interview with Qassim al-Hashmi, Bahrain International Mission in London, about the crackdown and human rights abuses against the majority of the population in the uprising in Bahrain.

The following is an approximate transcript of the interview.

Press TV: Tell us about this situation, it seems that Bahrain continually is deteriorating and yet we don’t see a whole lot being done internationally by main groups as far as international groups. What will it take right now in your perspective? What is left - because people are continually protesting now - What do they need first of all from the international perspective and what needs to happen inside Bahrain for the situation to change?

al-Hashmi: The international community should really move immediately and very fast especially after the video, which was largely internationally reached on the Internet about the prime minister declaring frankly and stating frankly that the law of Bahrain or any other law in the world and in their constitution would not cover them and would not cover the people who they protect.

That was in accordance with the visit that Bahrain prime minister has stated visiting one of the worst criminals who they were involved in killing our martyrs, one of our martyrs plus he was one of the officers who tortured the medical staff. But the prime minister visited him in his home and declared, telling him, rest assured that the law will not be enacted on you, otherwise it will be on us. And in fact, that’s what he said, the law does not cover us, we are above the law.

That’s why we are calling for the international community such as Europe, America, all over the world especially and particularly the UK and United States because they’ve been supporting the Bahrain regime.

And I am surprised if they are accepting for themselves to sit with such a person whom he considers himself above the law, he considers himself like a God, he considers himself like not a person, above a person, above human. And that’s why we think we should request the international community should move.

Yesterday as well you may know that there was a big demonstration yesterday after the call of a mandate and the people were in Freedom Square. They were a large number of people.

Unfortunately even those three people who have submitted the request to inform the minister of the interior about this demonstration, they were detained yesterday and there was an intention for the government to oversee into taking them to the court - Only because they have informed the official authorities that they are about to hold a demonstration.

Also, my last point please, you have heard about Rehana al-Moussawi, she has been detained and she has been sexually abused, her clothes were taken off her and she told the judge two days ago about this incident.

Still the judge, even though he was sure that such abuse happened to this Muslim lady, at the hands of police officers of the government, still he carried on to put her in a cell.
