Kumasi, Sept. 3, GNA - A Kumasi High Court on Thursday, August 28, 2003, refused a certiorari application filed by Nana Owusu Achiaw Prempeh, the destooled Juasohene. The court presided over by Mr Justice Baffoe Bonnie, said it will give full reasons on Tuesday, September 9. Cost of three million cedis was also awarded against Nana Achiaw Prempeh.Nana Owusu Achiaw Prempeh filed the certiorari asking the court to quash the judgements of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, which confirmed his destoolment by the Juaben Traditional Council in 1998. The kingmakers of Juaso namely Nana Agyemang Serebour II, Ankobeahene, Nana Oware Kankam, Adontenhene, Nana Amoah Owusu, Benkumhene and Nana Osei Boansi, Adenkyemenasehene, filed 21 destoolment charges against him in 1998 at the Juaben Traditional Council. Some of the charges were insubordination to the Golden Stool by refusing to appear before the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, sale of stool lands without accounting for the proceeds and disrespect to the elders of the Juaso stool. The Juaben Traditional Council found him guilty and consequently destooled him but this did not go down well with him and, therefore, appealed to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, which on June 4, 2003,adidas jeremy scott, again confirmed the decision of the Juaben Traditional Council.Comments:This article has no comments yet, be the first to commentKumasi, June 11, GNA- A Kumasi High Court has released three vehicles belonging to the Ashanti regional Education Office and the Atwima district education office it impounded about three weeks ago for contempt. The release of the vehicles followed a memorandum of understanding (MOE) by GES to abide by the High Court's ruling. It was signed by Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah, Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in-charge of Quality and Access. The memorandum indicated that the re-engagement forms for the 11 dismissed teachers belonging to the Jehovah Witness Sect had been completed by the affected teachers. The GES, it said, was now seeking clearance from the Controller and Accountant-General's Department to effect payment of their accumulated salaries since it involved extra budgetary allocation and that the affected teachers had been allocated schools and would start work as soon as clearance was obtained.Payment of the accumulated salaries, which stood at 364.590 million cedis, the memorandum said, would be made in three equal instalments. In 1987, Warrant Officer Class II, Kwaku Afoakwah-Duah, the then District Secretary for Atwima, ordered the GES to dismiss the 11 teachers for refusing to salute the Ghana flag, sing the national anthem and recite the national pledge at an Independence Anniversary parade. The teachers petitioned against their dismissal and on January 22, 2002, a Kumasi High Court gave judgement in their favour and ordered that they should be reinstated and awarded cost of 1.1 million cedis against the GES.However, the GES ignored the order of the court and on May 20, this year, the court ordered the vehicles of GES to be impounded until the reinstatement of the plaintiffs and payment of their salaries and other benefits.Comments:This article has no comments yet, be the first to commentNkawkaw, June 21, GNA - The Nkawkaw High Court, presided over by Mr Justice Kwaku Adu-Gyamfi, has remanded armed robbers in police custody for attacking and robbing Mr Safo Gyamfi, mulberry bayswater bag, a former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player of huge sums of money both in local and foreign currencies and some personal effects. The suspects, whose pleas were not taken, were to re-appear before the court on June 27.The suspects put in prison custody were Samuel Okai, alias Kwame Sammy, a 25-year-old trader, Maxwell Okai, alias Abubakari Okai, alias "Damage", 22, trader and Kwasi Paul, alias Awudu Mustapha or Prodo, a 27-year-old trader.Others were Kwasi Osei, 38, porter, Enoch Ofosu, 37 and Yaw Appiah, 28, while Kofi Joe, alias Odjo and Kwabena Ayisi, alias Azee, were both on the run.Prosecuting,http://www.mulberryhandbags4uk.biz, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Klomegah told the court that on June 1, this year, the complainant, who is a Kumasi-based businessman, drove from Accra in his Mitsubishi pick-up towards Kumasi. He said on reaching Nkawkaw at about 0130 hours, he decided to take a rest with two other companions but while resting, Samuel, Maxwell, Paul and the two others now at large, attacked them with a locally manufactured pistol, cutlass and clubs. The gang, hermes kelly, he said, had just before then attacked an articulator driver, Daniel Kudoadzi, at the outskirts of Nkawkaw and robbed him of 4.3 million cedis. The prosecutor said the robbers who continued with their operations to the centre of the town, inflicted wounds on the head and left leg of Mr Gyamfi and snatched his travelling bag containing 32,000 euros, 10,000 dollars, 15 million cedis, a Siemens mobile phone and some personal effects and fled.ASP Klomegah said the gang went and shared their booty and left for Accra but were arrested by a combine military and police patrol team on June 8, in Accra following a tip-off.Comments:This article has no comments yet, be the first to commentRelated articles: 53659 54844 55725 __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__
