Since we are allowed to discuss the information that has emerged lately about vB4, combined with the fact that we have been asked to use this very forum only for functionality suggestions, I will just do that.

(@Moderator: if this is however not appropiate to discuss, then please feel free to remove my posting. I feel very sympathic about what we are discussing elsewhere on the forums. I'm not quite sure what can be discussed and where, but I want make use of the information in a positive manner) :

Although there is no official announcement posted yet, there is talk about a Knowledge Base system, which could replace the FAQ. Content from the KB system could be pulled and placed into threads and into the ACP.

I think this is a brilliant idea.

Since year and day we have been bashing the internal vBulletin FAQ system. It simply doesn't deliver. We need more context-sensitive inline help for the enduser of this mammoth product.

So, what would happen if this extremely basic 'soo 2001' vBulletin FAQ system is to be replaced with a sophisticated Knowledge Base system?

Imagine being able to finally use and create RICH (images like screenshots and stuff!) help files for our endusers. Really, I am telling nothing new by saying vBulletin has become an enourmously huge product with countless options which can be dazzling for a first-(or second or...)time user.

What would be the most elegant, sophisticated solution in instructing our members? Indeed... having the Notices system make use of this in-depth Knowledge Base system. We can use the Notices system for 'Quick Tips of the Day' (the same you see with certain Windows applications on startup) for example. And imagine this... you set a conditional in your Notices System to track all members who never made any Friends. Then, you pull the appropiate Knowledge Base article from the KB -which will explain how to make Friends- and present it to those users inside a Notice. The moment they startup the forum they will see it!

This is fantastic...our endusers do not even have to search the KB... it get's delivered to them. (based on this idea by Renep)

Support please .
