Forum Symlink attachments folder

I have been trying to successfully symlink my attachments folder to another partition on our server (when our server was created the partition sizes were bad so we don't have enough space on the partition with VB to host the attachments there).

This is the error I receive when I try and change the attachment location in the AdminCP:

I have disabled PHP Safe Mode serverwide, open_basedir is commented out in the php.ini, and I have also added the following bits of code to the httpd.conf to try and get this message to go away:
