We made the huge mistake of using VBulletin 5.0 on a live site. We’ve tried our best to correct the errors but have been unsuccessful. After much work and aggravation we have no choice but to revert back to the older version. Some of the issues we had after migration were:
Users show a post count of zero on over half of the topics in the forum line-up. They also cannot see avatars on the home page. (Admins have no issues and can see the proper post count and avatars).
Multiple page topics show 1 of 1. This issue has been brought up twice in the tracker section and both times has been listed as ‘fixed.’ I don’t know why they’ve marked it as fixed.
We have several private forums and each user was added to certain areas by choosing ‘yes’ in their permission section. Since the upgrade every member’s permissions are marked ‘default’ (Versus yes or no). When I try to change the permission to ‘yes’ (allow the user into a private section) and click save, it reverts back to default. No changes can be made. I’ve tried in two different browsers with no success.
We are unable to edit our text which from what I’m reading is a common among other forums as well.
It’s a shame that we cannot re-open the forum and invite our members back, but with these huge errors I just don’t see it happening, especially without some sort of timeline for the next beta release. It's a shame really because other than these errors and the fact that the forum is super slow, everything else is working great.
I just wish we had read the forum more before purchasing 5.0.
