Ok, I recently had a friend give a website forum to me. The site was really overrun by spammers so I offered to take it and put the time into it that it needs. He gave me the phpadmin login and I backed up the database using the built-in tool. This left me with a tar.gz file approx. 1.29gb in size. So, after we got the DNS transferred over to my hosting company (godaddy) I tried simply unzipping the file and installing the forum files into my site folder and pointing out the database file in godaddy's file manager....no go. Since that didnt work, and the forum software we intended on upgrading anyways, I purchased a new license and installed vbulletin 4.2 on my server so at least I know the forums CAN work and are functional. Question is: How do I restore my former forum database on the new installation? Keep in mind, not a pro user here. I have read the support documentation but it's really confusing as I dont think godaddy has ssh support.
