03-09-12 02:34 PM The opposition refuses MOI ban of its sit-in mass rally '' Freedom for the Prisoners'' Monday 3rd of September, 2012. alwefaq.net/index.php?show=news&action=article&id=6889 Concerning yesterday's official ban of the opposition's mass rally, "Freedom for the Prisoners", the organizing parties emphasized that the official ban of its prodemocracy protests reflect the true image of the Bahraini regime in devoting dictatorship through repression and abuse. They said this regime excludes all opinions opponent to its policies that govern without the will of the people and controls all authorities; judicial, legislative and executives. Opposition parties including (Al-Wefaq, Wa'ad, National democratic, AlEkha and Unitary) stated that the government's suppression and confiscation of liberties has gone as far as even refusing to hear other's opinions. This is a disgrace for Bahraini authorities as the majority of the Bahraini people are calling for democracy. This issue is a must for the Bahraini people who are living under brutal repression to the degree of political persecution and have paid a high price for their legitimate demands, as more than one-hundred have been martyred, thousands injured and mosques demolished. become a daily routine pursued by the authorities against pro-democracy citizens. The five parties stated that the people will not back-down on freedom of expression and assembly despite the repression which is happening under the observation of the international community and human rights organizations who have confirmed that these peaceful gatherings including calls for the release of political figures and prisoners basic rights according to the international laws and treaties, therefore the authorities do not have the right to prevent such gatherings. Not to mention that the Kingdom of Bahrain has ratified consistent with international human rights conventions and both institutions of civil and political rights. The opposition parties considered the de facto policy by which the authorities want to transform notices of protests to permits. This, on its own, is a violation to the local law, which is oppressive in the first place. They also considered the official banning a repeated violation of the basic right of freedom of expression peaceful assembly that are guaranteed by the international convictions. Banning such peaceful gatherings aims to impose more restrictions on freedom of expression and this will aggravate the political situation. The banning also indicates that the authorities in Bahrain have no intention of fulfilling all its promises that have been made to the international community. The opposition demanded that the authorities stop intimidating the people, using the law against opponents to arbitrarily prevent them from exercising their right of freedom of expression as such acts deepen the political crisis. المصدر... __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
