The Green Bay Packers are still perfect after their 12th game of the season. The New York Giants managed to push the Packers to the limit in order to keep their perfect record.Still, despite the fact the for the better part of the match, the Giants manage to make it a game, and play head to head against the Super Bowl defending champions, the truth is that Aaron Rodgers managed to wrap up the game in little less then a minute and a half of play. Tied at 35 points a piece and with little less then a minute to play, the Packers had the ball 80 yards away from the Giants end zone. It look like we would have to go into overtime to find a winner, but then again, Aaron Rodgers, single handedly proved that he is still the strongest case in the league for the MVP title. It took Rodgers only five plays to get in range for the Packers kicker to do his thing. In a fast paced, precise manner, the Packers quarterback completed 24, 27 and 18 yard passes to set up Mason Crosby for a 31-yard field goal that gave the Green Bay Packers a 38-35 win over the New York Giants, that are now 6-6 for the season, and have lost their fourth straight game. The Packers head coach, McCarthy acknowledges that the Packers practice two minute drives constantly in order to pull off stuff like this on important games. On the other hand, he also recognizes that having a guy like Rodgers at the helm makes plays like this look a lot easier than what they really are. With this win, and considering that the Detroit Lions were crushed on Sunday Night football by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, the Packers not only have now won their 18th consecutive game including playoffs, but have also secured the NFC North. It wasn't an easy game for Rodgers. Truth be said, the New York Giants made one heck of an effort to keep him under control and they even managed to sack him three times. Still, despite that, Rodgers finished the game with 28 of 46 passing for 369 with four touchdowns. The Giants suffered yet another disappointing loss. Still, even though losing is losing and playing well and not winning is not really too much of an comforting argument, the Giants played a great game, just a week after the New Orleans Saints blew them out of the water on Monday Night Football. Eli Manning finished the night with 23 of 40 passing for 347 and three touchdown passes. His performance was quite impressive but on the other hand, and despite proving once again that they really have what it takes to win against a big team, truth is that they are still 6-6 and not even close to playing at the level they would need to survive the Playoffs. The Giants made it a game. Truth is that this franchise has been able to crush perfect seasons before. Just ask the 1998 Denver Broncos, or the 2007-2008 Tom Brady and the New England Patriots who were 16-0 but were defeated in the Super Bowl by Eli Manning and much of this same folks.
