I wrote already in the optimization section of my problem, I will write here as well. Think seriously of upgrading to version 4 - this could be for you and for your forum deadly. After upgrading vbulletin from 3.8 to 4.02 I have a very serious performance issues with the forum. Forum has 600 thousand. posts, 16 thousand. users. Maximum number of users simultaneously logged is 1,500 people. After changing to version 4.02 of the server can't handle requests - apache process hangs all the time. Below I present configuration. Please advice, because the forum is useless in 4.02 version! With previous versions of the script the server does not have any, even minor, problems with the handle all the requests, even with the largest load. -- Dedicated server AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ Memory: 4GB HD: 400GB SATA OS: Debian 4.0, kernel: 2.6.18-5-amd64 Apache/2.2.3 PHP/5.2.0-8 MYSQL: 5.0.32 VB Version: 4.02 -- Just a quick update regarding mentioned performance issue. The server load was pretty much constant and predictable as we were running 3.8.4. After upgrade, the network statistics also shown a significant growth: 10GB daily avg traffic became 17 GB peak (apache stats) LINK 1 This is how the same issue looks on the network statistics report coming from our datacenter: Feb22 LINK 2 Feb23 LINK 3 I know we are talking about new features and performance optimization, but if the 70% traffic growth and 40-50% CPU usage is called the "optimization" then I will say "no, thank you very much". __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
