CMS CMS What's The Point?

I've dabbled with CMS since the my forums have been upgraded to V4 suite and I just cannot see what the point in it is in its current location, /content.php.

I don't see me ever using it to be honest because as soon as you activate it, it redirects visitors [who had previously bookmarked my forum as /forum/index.php] to the CMS content page instead of the redirect [which is what the majority of us probably want] to our forums now that its address has changed from /forum/index.php to /forum/forums.php

Ideally I would like:

CMS as site homepage. www.mysite.com
Forum as it was previously /forums/index.php or a redirect to /forums/forum.php when the CMS is activated, not a rediect to the CMS page. __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__
