I am going to be upgrading from the 3.84 PL2 forum only installed in the root directory. I've beenr eading the various upgrade instructions I've been able to find.
I am assuming that following installation of the Suite, the forum will no longer be located at mysite.com but rather at mysite.com/forum - this seems to be assumed in the instructiosn I've read to date..
Will I be given the option of installing the forum to the root as it is currently or does it HAVE to be in a subdirectory?
If I must use a subdirectory, are there any extra steps I need to take before upgrading? For example,
will the upgrade utility automatically take care of deleting (or ignoring) duplicate 3.84 files currently residing in directories off the root?
what will happen to existing avatars, profile pics, albums, smilies, etc., currently residing off the root? will they be automatically moved to the appropriate new directory?
What will happen to the URLs currently pointing to threads in the root? Are they automatically updated with the new path?
