CMS Published Date increases incrementally every edit. Workaround?

I noticed every time I edit and save a CMS section or article the Published Date increases by one day which is very irritating if you are moving stuff around as I am. I saw this posted in bugs but it was closed due to no response. I opened a new bug. Hope it's not a duplicate. That's not my question.

Does anyone know a way to stop this behavior? My Published Date is an important part of my content structure and this is messing me up. Moving a lot of things around and forgetting to reset this each time. That and having to remove the extra line breaks around tables and preview breaks every time. But that's another thread.
