The major Wordpress offer it's members the option to choose from different pre-defined themes, with the ability to change some areas on those themes. For free. What I dearly miss in vBulletin in it's current state is 'outside-of-the-box-thinking', this time litterally. Although our members can change their Blog (and Profile) style to some extent, it still looks and feels much too 'blocky'. Our users are still framed into the dated boxy style of vBulletin and can't use their creativity to break out of vBulletin surroundings, so to speak. What I wrote 2 years ago overhere: Quote: Originally Posted by Grover (Post 1400791) Reading the suggestions and blogs overhere it seems that the feature most people want in a future release is the ability to let members customize their blog styles. You can choose from 34 (!) predefined styles and.... you can subsequentially customize such a predefined style to your likings. You can change the colours of certain areas and change the background pictures also. When you click on the [Advanced]-tab you can even add custom CSS-code to your page.... Custom CSS... don't know if that's taking things a bit too far (most of my members don't even know what CSS is...), but predefined styles and the ability to customize them (through a userfriendly interface with colourpickers and stuff) is really something I would like to see in the vBulletin Blog. ... still stands. What I see happing on my site with the very (very) few users who use a vBlog is that they change some colours of their profile and Blog and if we're lucky they figure out how to use some background images in the several table-headers and that is it really. So they end up looking all the same, because they are still restriced by vBulletin's overall layout. But this is what Wordpress offers it's members: Attachment 30516 You can just choose from a predefined theme and your blog will look totally different from the default theme. Totally, because those themes are not restricted by a default 'blocky' looking layout (layout = the way the tables(borders) are laid out)... all those themes have a different layout of their own. And even within those different themes, you can often change some areas by yourself. Attached Images ![]() |
