Suite Excessive long upgrade process

Am doing the upgrade from 3.8.x to 4.0.6. The upgrade script was long but fairly straightforward. However, once it's all set and done, I'm taken to the admincp, at which point I'm asked to rebuild a number of items. I started rebuilding the threads, then forums, and now building the search index.


I'm at 242500 for the search index rebuilt. Each time it does 250, and takes 18.6s. Therefore, it has been over 5 hrs already just on this. Is this normal?

My dB server is running on its own (ie web server is on another server) with a 2.4GHz processor. It's been at 90%+ for the last 5 hrs.

Is there a way to do this on command line rather than from the web browser? __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__
