Forum Posts narrow after upgrade from 3.8

After upgrading from 3.8 to 4.0.3, new posts display very narrow (using about half the available width). Also, when you click to edit one of these narrow posts, the wysiwyg editor is also narrow taking up the same width. Where can I adjust that? BTW, posts from previous version still appear just fine.

Another, less important issue is that the section on the left that displays the avatar is a bit wide. How can I narrow that area a bit?
