I was driving by a proposed new apartment site here in Melbourne a few months back, thought "hey, what damage can a little further look do?" and sent in an interest. This development wasn't released and they had only just begun to sell a couple of small apartments. Wife and I usually move every x amount of years increasing our investments, as many tend to do. Well, we put down a retainer 2 months ago, signed the contract 6 weeks ago for one of five penthouse apartments within the complex, handed over the deposit two weeks ago and got great news yesterday that as a couple of the suites had obviously fallen through from other buyers, they put those apartments back on the market, yet at an extra 100k from when we put our retainer down only 2 months ago.
Best news ever when I get told I just made an extra 100k in 2 months from doing nothing other than being a little curious after driving down a street I otherwise never would typically have driven down. The development isn't finished for another 2+ years yet, so all my fingers and toes are now crossed for even further growth.
Not trying to brag, just excited over something so random off chance coming out so well. Investments are shaky at the best of times at present... so its good to see property markets booming here in Australia.
