Forum Can Someone Please Confrim This Is Right

I know, I know, not another upgrade question

I've spent the last few weeks having a good read around of the other threads on here, the vb manual etc... I was just hoping as somebody could confrim as I've got this right before I attempt to do it.


I'm currently running 3.8.4 PL2 & have just downloaded 4.0.2 PL4.

Now my forum does have a few hacks & skins installed so am I right in thinking that the upgrade process goes something like this....

1) Close forum.
2) Back-up forum & database. (If my upgrade goes wrong do I just go into the FTP & delete whatever is there & upload my back-up & my current forum re-appears? I don't need to 'install' my old forum again?)
3) Uninstall all hacks & plugins.
4) Delete all but the default skin.
5) Revert any templates which have been altered (Does this need doing at this point?)
6) Change the 'upload' folder out of the 4.0.2 file to 'forum' (The same as my current set-up)
7) Delete the 'install.php' & 'config.php.new' files. (I don't need to change the config.php.new to just config.php & edit the details like when I first installed my forum do I? The config.php file I already have there will stay there as everything else gets overwritten, right?)
8) Upload the 4.0.2 'forum' folder & allow it to overwrite all files.
9) Do the 'myforum.com/forum/install/upgrade.php' process (Enter account number, click next a few times & go through the steps. I'm guessing it'll go from 3.8.4 to 3.8.5 then 4.0.1 & finally 4.0.2, right?) - (This should all go smoothly having taken the above steps, right?)
10) Open the forum back up & start posting (If everything has gone to plan all my current members, sub-forums, posts etc... Will all still be there?)

If some people could confrim whether the above points are correct or not (If not could they please point out where I'm going wrong) I'd be very grateful.
