Suite Upgrading from 3.8 -> VB4 with over 300,000 attachments

Hi Guys

I intend to upgrade my forums over the weekend.

My plan is to

1) install the new VB4 files into a new directory (eg domain.com/forums2)
2) backup my db and restore this into a new db using this ‘copy’ of my database as the database that I will upgrade (leaving the original untouched)
3) Once I’m happy that the forums located in the /forums2 directory have upgraded ok, my plan is to then
4) rename my domain.com/forums directory to something like domain.com/forum3
5) rename my domain.com/forum2 directory back to domain.com/forum
6) move my attachments folder from the old forum directory into the new one
7) check everything looks and works ok
8) put the forums back online
9) delete the old /forum directory and
10) delete the original copy of my database,


Anyway, my question is this.

In an earlier (unsuccessful but glad I had a database backed up) attempt to upgrade when VB 4 first went gold, one of the upgrade steps did something to all of my attachments.

The thing is, at time of typing I have over 360,000 (60G+) of attachments in my forums.

Will I need to make a copy of my attachments folder and place it in the appropriate spot in my /forums2 directory to ensure the upgrade has worked correctly or are the only changes to the ‘attachments’ made to the attachment references in the database?
