Styles Split userinfo section out of postbit into it's own template

Hi All*

I'm not particularly fond of the default postbit layout; it wastes too much vertical space if the users are uploading avatars* etc. In fact* I like to have the userinfo in a column* just to the left of the post content.

Therefore* in order to make my life easier in the future* can you please separate out the userinfo div into it's own template* thereby minimizing the number of edits that i'll have to do in the future when upgrading. Presumably* the inclusion of the different content would be through the use of a template variable (which is easier to move around than entire blocks of template code).

This will also help me detect/separate changes out that were made to the postbit and/or userinfo templates rather than having this huge monolithic template to try to wade through at upgrade time.

Actually* I'd like it if all of the dissimilar (but related) pieces of info end up in their own template. Yes* it creates more templates* but it allows us to move them around more easily while keeping the modification of the content to those templates as segregated as possible.


So instead of moving around entire blocks of template code* I just move one stanza around: {vb:raw $postbit.userinfo}

My old postbit was modified so heavily in my board that re-applying it during upgrades took many hours of change* test* change* test* etc. It will be less so with the css* but not by much.
