VB 2.0 lasted forever* as has 3.0. Now that people won't have to pay a yearly license renew fee to keep access to updates for the 4.0 family* does that mean VB will move on to 5.0* 6.0* etc quicker than they went from 2.x. to 3.x to 4.0 so they can get upgrade fees? Like* instead of 3.0 -> 3.5 -> 3.6 -> 3.7* etc* they'll go from 4.0 -> 4.1 -> 5.0 -> 5.1 -> 5.2 -> 6.0* charging update fees each time it goes to a new x.0 number? Does anyone think we'll get to 4.8 before hitting 5.0?
The way it's setup now seems as if they will get a lot now up front* but after that* no more $60/yr from a constant stream of folks.
I'm sure there's no true answer* and if there is* I'm sure VB won't come out and say it.
Just curious. FWIW* I plan on dropping the coin to update two freakin' sites in the next day. Joy.
