Question about customizing forum look beyond simple styles

I have a web site that I plan to add a forum to (SpellQuizzer.com). I've set up my forum at SpellQuizzer.com/Community but I'm not satisfied with the look. I want it to be seamlessly integrated into my sites existing layout. As an example of what I mean, I want the forum to occupy the white space in the main content area (center) of the page layout sample here. I'm able to update the HTML on the site but my CSS knowledge is minimal. How feasible is it to have the forum implemented within the sample layout? I can't see any indication in the vBulletin Manual that this level of customization can be done.
