sudden intermittent trouble posting ANYTHING

okay just out of the blue today, we are having trouble posting. i mean anything. posting replies (quick and advanced), sending PMs, making new threads for examples.

here is what happens. you type in your reply and submit it. at home, in ubuntu 9.04 and firefox 3 and 3.5, it typically hangs up for around 20 seconds and then prompts you to download the specific php file you are using (private.php, newthread.php, etc)

if im at work and trying this in IE7 and Fx3, it just hangs for around 60 seconds and then says done, ending on a blank screen.

i have changed absolutely nothing with our site in the last few months as far as template modifications, products/plugins, etc. literally nothing. this just started happening today.


i feel that this is on the server end, just on a hunch, but i really can't verify this. its affecting all our users, but any other vB sites work just fine. i know very little about the server side, and haven't changed anything, so i really have no idea where to even start with this.
