Forum Change Default Forum when Merging Threads

There are two ways to merge threads - 1. select both and then merge; or 2. select one and then merge. Using option 2, the 1st screen you select the thread you are merging too, then the 2nd screen you choose the destination forum and redirect options. With option 1 you bypass the 1st screen and go directly to the 2nd screen.
If it's possible with the option 2 to have the default forum be the thread you are merging too, that would be great. How easy would it be to do this and how do I do it? Thanks in advance!
