The people of Bahrain and human rights groups, however, urgently ask you, your teams and drivers, to reconsider competing in the Formula 1 race scheduled to take place in Bahrain. The situation in Bahrain right now is very unstable and tense. The government of Bahrain hopes to stage the Formula 1 race to show the outside world that everything in the country is back to normal following the civil unrest but, as I hope you may know, things are very far from normal there. The political situation is totally out of control. Civil unrest and serious human rights abuses such as torture, severe tear-gassing of peaceful, unarmed protesters and houses, running over protesters with riot police cars, beating and severely injuring protesters, shooting at protesters with live ammunition and detaining injured people during surgery at hospital are just some of the human rights abuses that are taking place daily. While the government representatives and Formula 1 organizers may assure you that it is safe for you to transport your team and compete in Bahrain, please spare a thought for the oppressed, peaceful protesters who are still be abused, as outlined above. Any support of the Bahrain Formula Grand Prix could be seen as support for this brutal and sadistic regime. I kindly and urgently ask you to support the boycott of the 2012 Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix.
