Computer Chat Best way to get advertising for my website?
 

Preferrably some way that would help cover costs somewhat, since as the hosting topic I posted seems to suggest, my site can't stay on a VPS much more, but I need some form of advertising to get the money for a dedicated server and the management of it.

Any tips you'd suggest? Any tips about general ad placements (I already knew about the ad hooks, and I don't need the version of vBulletin with the advertising integration stuff, since I know enough about modding vBulletin templates to add advertisements myself). Any advertising networks that pay relatively well, but don't introduce spyware/adware? Do donation buttons help?

Edit: In case you hadn't figured this out, I am completely clueless about website advertising or generally making money from the internet in any form. Please keep that in mind when replying.
