Armed forces raid houses at dawn to arrest medics

Heavily armed forces broke into houses of six medics, including consultants, doctors, a paramedic and a nurse to arrested them for treating injured pro-democracy protesters when the revolution erupted in Bahrain. The arrested medics are as follows:

1. Dr. Ali Al-Ekri an Orthopedic Surgeon 2. Dr.Saeed Al-Samheej Consultant in Eye surgery 3. Dr.Ghassan Dhaif Consultant in Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial 4. Dr.Mahmood Asghar Consultant in Pediatric Surgery 5. The paramedic Ebrahim Al-Dimistani 6. The Nurse Dhia'a Ebrahim

The regime in Bahrain has turned its back to the international community and the United Nations when it arrested this morning (2nd October,2012) the medics by raiding their homes after the court convicted them with politically-motivated verdicts that are totally influenced by the regime.

The regime disregarded all international calls and ignored all stances taken by countries and humanitarian organizations which stressed on keeping the medics away from the official random vindictiveness that targets any opponent to the regime.

The medics arrests prove that the Bahraini regime will continue its vindictive approach against the people of Bahrain punishing them for their pro-democracy stances which reject the dictatorship which is sliding the country deep in ongoing deterioration.

The arrests of such dedicated patriotic annd committed medics prove that the regime disregards the recommendations of the United Nations Human Rights Council which was held a few days ago. The recommendations are meaningless in front of the brutal repression, arrests, killings and vindictiveness committed against citizens ignoring all calls and pleas.

The arrests happened despite the wide condemnation by some countries which have not taken the ongoing human rights violations in Bahrain seriously.

The arrests of the medics come after proving that their cases were void after being subjected to torture in detention when the regime launched a vengeful campaign against the prodemocracy revolution back in March 2011 during what was called the National Safety Period ( State of Emergency), targeting thousands of citizens, national figures, teachers, engineers, academics and different professions.

Medics did not have fair trials despite the fact that they were subjected to torture. And although they had filed lawsuits against their torturers , the court instead, issued a decision to uphold the verdicts that were issued in the military courts during the emergency state.
